BUS ACCIDENT INFORMATION: UPDATE 01/23/2024

Grant County Sheriff's Office stated that low visibility due to extreme fog is suspected to have played a role in the collision that took place on Monday (01/22/24) around 3:40 PM where a Wahluke School District bus was traveling south on Road O-SW and a pickup was traveling west on Road 27-SW.
Seventeen students were on the bus. Thirteen students were transported to hospitals. All students sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining four students and the bus driver were examined by EMTs and released to their parents/caregivers.
The pickup driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE INFORMACIÓN DEL ACCIDENTE DE AUTOBÚS: 23/01/2024

La Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Grant declaró que se sospecha que la baja visibilidad debido a la niebla extrema jugó un papel en el accidente que tuvo lugar el lunes (22/01/24) alrededor de las 3:40 p.m. cuando un autobús del distrito escolar de Wahluke viajaba hacia el sur por la carretera. O-SW y una camioneta viajaba hacia el oeste por la carretera 27-SW.
En el autobús viajaban diecisiete estudiantes. Trece estudiantes fueron trasladados a hospitales. Todos los estudiantes sufrieron heridas que no ponen en peligro sus vidas. Los cuatro estudiantes restantes y el conductor del autobús fueron examinados por paramédicos y entregados a sus padres/cuidadores.
El conductor de la camioneta sufrió heridas graves pero que no ponen en peligro su vida y fue trasladado a un hospital.

A serious accident occurred this afternoon (January 22, 2024) at approximately 3:30 PM on “O” road. The collision was between a Wahluke School bus and a pickup truck.
NONE of the injuries are life-threatening, 13 students were transported to hospitals in the Tri-Cities. The other students on the bus and driver have been released to parents/guardians.
All parents and families have been notified. We understand the seriousness of this event and appreciate all the help from our community, staff, and EMTs who were on the scene helping our students.
More information will be shared as communicated with the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

Un grave accidente ocurrió esta tarde (22 de enero de 2024) aproximadamente a las 3:30 p.m. en la carretera “O”. La colisión fue entre un autobús escolar de Wahluke y una camioneta.
NINGUNA de las heridas fueron contra la vida, 13 estudiantes fueron transportados a hospitales en Tri-Cities. Los otros estudiantes en el autobús y el conductor han sido entregados a sus padres/tutores.
Todos los padres y familias han sido notificados. Entendemos la gravedad de este evento y apreciamos toda la ayuda de nuestra comunidad, personal y técnicos de emergencias médicas que estuvieron en el lugar ayudando a nuestros estudiantes.
Se compartirá más información según se comunique con el Departamento del Sheriff del condado de Grant.
