The Desert Air Safety & Security Committee invited WSD and other local organizations to take part in a meeting event on Friday, November 12th for Representative Dan Newhouse. Topics that were discussed during the meeting were law enforcement, medical services and road construction. Guest included State Rep. Alex Ybarra, GC Commissioner Cindy Carter, GC Sheriff Tom Jones, Fire Chief Joe Noonchester, Mayor Maggie Celaya, and Mattawa Clinic Director Dana Fox as well as many other community members. WSD was represented by WHS and WJH leadership students and WSD Board President Loraine Jenne, Superintendent Andy Harlow, and WHS Principal Cody Marlow. State Rep. Ybarra has agreed to come back to WSD in the coming weeks to continue talking about issues that were raised by WSD admin & students — including support for the SRO program, graduation requirements, and mental health.
