Regional Teacher of the Year - Chelsea Brannock

ESD Announces 2022-23 Regional Teacher of the Year - Chelsea Brannock

Last spring we received nominations for eleven amazing educators throughout our region to serve as our 2022-23 Teacher of the Year.  We are excited to share that Chelsea Brannock of the Wahluke School District has been selected as our ESD 105 Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023!

Ms. Brannock is an advocate for students.  As an English language arts teacher at Wahluke High School, she understands the power of having a strong voice.  In her daily work, she empowers students to find, use and unleash their own potential through the strong student-centered opportunities she provides.  She also understands that academic success comes when students feel safe.  At the foundation of Ms. Brannock’s practice is her ability to foster relationships within her school community based on inclusion, equity and mutual respect.  She truly believes all students are capable of reaching their highest potential when they are challenged with high expectations and supported with the resources they need to be successful.

“Wanting kids to succeed and knowing how to support them is different.”  Very eloquently and authentically stated by our regional Teacher of the Year, Ms. Brannock understands that supporting each other as educators through collaboration is the key to student success.  In addition to being an advocate for students, Ms. Brannock is a role model to her fellow educators.  Chelsea is committed to collaboration; she serves as a leader on her PLC team, hosts peer observations to help support other teachers and is heavily involved in the implementation of PBIS in her building.  She goes above and beyond every day to make sure that all those around have the skills and support they need to thrive.

Ms. Brannock was selected to serve as our ESD 105 Regional Classified Employee of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year by a panel of judges from within the Educational Service District and our greater community.  Panel members included Curtis King (14th Legislative District WA State Senator), Rachel Bussey (Junior League of Yakima President), Gwyn Trull (ESD 105 District 6 Board of Director), Veronica Naranjo (ESD 105 Director of Human Resources), and Melissa Matczak (ESD 105 Assistant Director of Special Services).

We invite you to join us in celebrating our 2022-23 Regional Teacher of the Year, Chelsea Brannock!
