Valentine's Day During Covid : As Valentine's Day is soon approaching, WSD wanted to let staff and parents know that we will not be allowing Valentine's Day gifts or treats to be delivered at school due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope you all understand and know that this is to keep our students and staff safe. Friendly reminder about our COVID-19 District Information Portal, which can be found on our website. The COVID Dashboard is updated weekly. We value the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. As you may be aware, many regions worldwide are experiencing expanding outbreaks of COVID-19, and many confirmed cases have been identified in the State of Washington. The district and our skilled nursing staff take our students' and staff's health very seriously and work with the Grant County Health District (GCHD) as positive Coronavirus cases appear in our district. As the school year unfolds, we want to remind you all that. WSD will continue to share information with staff, parents, and our community (facts/resources are on our district website). WSD will continue to follow the Grant County Health District (GHD) and CDC guidelines. The process for parent/guardian and employee notification is as follows: In coordination with the Grant County Health, when the district is notified of positive cases or possible exposures, we begin contact tracing within our buildings. The district may contacta any staff member, parent, or community member identified as possibly being exposed. Once facts are determined, the district will guide quarantining and a possible return to work/school date. The district will then contact the health department to confirm the guidelines provided to the staff/parent. Once the district has confirmation from the health department, all staff members are notified that there was a positive case within their particular building. If there is a positive case within a classroom, the district will notify the students' parents in that specific room. The district is bound by FERPA, HIPAA, and ADA regulations regarding the release of specific health information. During February we will be celebrating Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in history. National School Counselor Week, is from February 1-5, to focus on the unique contribution of school counselors within school systems. and Career and Technical Education Month, celebrates the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. 🔻🔺🔻🔺 ¡Hola febrero! ¡Esperamos que hayan tenido un gran primer día del mes! All Pre-K through 12 grade on-campus classes for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 27th, have been cancelled due to the potential for inclement weather. However, all classes will be transitioned to a remote (distance) learning model for the day. If your child starts school this week, we will send them home with cold meals for reheating at home. If your kids are still learning at home and are not yet attending school on-site, please drop by and pick up our BBQ Sandwich, Cinna-Minis, and Popcorn Chicken, along with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, including kiwi fruit and radishes! If your younger kids start the Hybrid schedule this week, we will send cold meals home with them after school. You can still pick up 5-Day Meal Bags for kids who haven't yet started their Hybrid schedule. We hope to see you this Monday during our meal distribution at Mattawa Elementary!
