The Wahluke School District Information and Technology Services department will be checking-out student technology devices (Chromebooks/iPads) on Monday, August 31st, from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The Wahluke School District intends to be as transparent as possible with our community and keep our stakeholders informed and engaged. We don't always reach the desired target and appreciate it when our stakeholders hold us to our intent when we fall short. COVID-19 has considerably changed our board meetings. We are excited that so many people are partaking in the process. We are positively thinking about and designing our meetings differently than we did just a few short months ago. Like everything these days, we feel we are in a dead sprint to keep up with the "new norm." We understand that Spanish interpretation is necessary for our district. We apologize for the oversight of not providing interpretation sooner - but those who have spoken and asked have been heard. We are excited to announce that we have made arrangements for Spanish interpretations for our School Board meeting on Tuesday, August 25, at 7:00 PM, and in the future. It's important to us that ALL stakeholders have the opportunity to hear and be heard during these public sessions. We invite you to attend. To listen to the School Board meeting in Spanish, follow the directions found in the image. During the last school board meeting, the board decided to open the Zoom Chat feature for the public comment sections and close it for the remainder, business portion of the meeting. They felt that most mimicked the norms in a usual face-to-face board meeting -- meaning people traditionally do not stand up and talk during the business of the meeting, outside of the public comment section. More information on Policy #1400 Meetings Public Notice Quorum Meeting Conduct and Order of Business and Public Comment, found on our website. We will continue to allow Chat in the public comment portion of the meeting, but not after that period has ended. We will also be disabling the Q&A feature, all together, for the same reason. Hi Warriors! We'll be distributing meals at Mattawa Elementary Cafeteria this Monday from 7 am to 4 pm. Our new menu items include BBQ rib sandwiches 🥪, bananas 🍌, and fresh broccoli 🥦. We'll also have Brown Bag Science Kits for our Junior High students,👨🏽‍🔬️👩🏻‍🔬️ and our local dentist office 🦷 will be passing out dental kits. *Congratulations, Mrs. Cantu!* Alicia Cantu was recognized, yesterday, for 30 years of service to Wahluke School District. She was awarded a crystal apple statuette by WSD Acting Superintendent Andy Harlow and WHS Principal Cody Marlow at a special ceremony in her honor. We are grateful and proud to have had Mrs. Cantu as a coworker in our district and offer our heartfelt congratulations to her in recognition of this service milestone.
