On behalf of the GCFD8 Volunteer Association, we would like to offer community hours to students on December 6th at 5 pm at the High School Commons. They will help decorate and set up for our Father and Daughter Ball. Students who are interested in helping out can get a hold of me (Brenda) via email at office@gcfd8.net or can call the office at 509-932-4777 and ask for me, if I am not available please leave a message and I will get a hold of you.
26 students and 1 parent visited the LIGO Observatory Center in Richland for the first time. They learned about Gravitational Waves and completed an activity on how gravitational waves are extracted from LIGO's data. They also had the opportunity to explore the exhibits focused on gravitational waves and related sciences, as well as hardware reflecting the history of gravitational wave astronomy. Thank you to LIGO staff for making this a wonderful experience for us.

Next Week's CONFERENCE Schedule for ALL Schools! Remember Monday is Veterans Day and there will be no school!
As we approach conferences, you will be asked to complete forms by the Technology Department. These forms include the Electronic Use Agreement and an option to purchase device insurance.
It is importance to sign the Electronic Use Agreement, which ensures responsible and safe technology use by students. Without this agreement, students may face restrictions in accessing important district technology and resources necessary for their learning. Additionally, purchasing insurance can help protect families from unexpected accidental repair or replacement costs. Both forms are essential for supporting our students' educational experience.
Parents/guardians have until November 30 to purchase insurance. If it has not been purchased by November 30, the student will default to declining insurance and the family will be responsible for costs in the event that a device is damaged (accidental or intentional). If the Electronic User Agreement is not returned by November 30, the student will default to not agreeing to WSD policy and will face restrictions and/or lost access (which we do not want). However, once the student returns their Electronic User Agreement, they will be granted their original access.
If a family is not able to pay the insurance fees, please have them discuss options with the office as there may be additional funds (McKinney Vento, etc.) to help cover insurance fees.
